Black Ice in North

Did ya'll see the Estes double bottom jump the center guard rail on the NJ Turnpike. Can U imagine how he felt going over that steel rail and how about how he held it together. He is a great operator.

Lot of people killed around here. Drive Safe and slow as there is more to come.

I Googled "Estes double bottom" and got Yogi Bear Campground in Estes Park that has cabins for rent that have bunk beds with double size mattresses on the bottom. The other link was for Estes model rockets that have two engines in the first stage and one on the second stage.

I think the OP is referring to a Estes Motor Freight truck.

Pretty scary video for sure. Here is MI last week we had a 194 car/semi pileup and only one dead with that. His semi burnt poor guy. Can't drive on ice but people always seem to figure they can and then do it at regular speeds.

What's an Estes ? You've gotta be kidding me. What you all look at going down the road ? OK .... we're not all x-truckers.

That would have been a wild ride for sure. What about the guy in the car he was coming head on to before he jumped the guard rail? I think they both had to change their shorts.

Any self respecting motor head knows Estes, Overnight, Hemingway, Great Coastal, Schneider, and on and on great truck lines. My dad was a diesel mechanic and could tell you which engine an OTR truck had in it just by listening to it going down the road.

Safe travels to all, especially in the slick stuff.

True enough, We had New Century just down the road from us until just this past year. They went Bust. I was really impressed by the stability of the entire vehicle as the driver went over the rail. It certainly said a lot for the Big E driver.

This past weekend was a real KILLER in so many way. I feel so sorry for all those folks. We just wiped out a deer but can not imagine what it was like to be in one of the tangled wrecks.

It always impresses me how the news reporters claim "The semi jackknifed and went over the center divider". They don't have a clue......
