I shall be in Texas next winter and would like to know where I should go to get a blood test for INR (coagulation).
There are 2 ways to obtain results which are with Intravenous sample or just a drop of blood with the finger. A result is required every month but we will be moving from different locations
Any suggestion?

I don't know about that particular test, but when I need to get blood drawn for lab tests I just go to the local hospital. They have always accepted my insurance and in most cases get the results to my doctor the same day.

I have not been to Texas and had this done but when we are in Florida I go to Quest Labs or Labcorp for the INR. Here at home it is just a finger prick but at the labs in Florida they draw the blood and by late the next day my doctors have the results.

If you Google the labs for Texas you should get a list and addresses where thy are. (at least that is how I find them in Florida) My experience is that they do not take appointments for this procedure - it is a walk in and wait your turn situation. I have never had to wait more than 20 minutes.

Probably the easiest is to buy the instrument and do the finger prick test myself. Will not be much more expensive, easier. Same rule as a diabetic test.

if you research the cost of the instrument you will be shocked at the cost.

It is not like a diabetes testin unit

Call your insurance provider and ask for someone that has experience with "trip planning" as this must be a normal thing.

You may be able to provide a list of cities you plan on visiting and they could provide a list of in network providers in or near those cities.

I mean test is similar using a blood drop, a waiting time to warm up instrument of something like 120 seconds and than test. Instrument cost $700 Each test cost $7 . Instrument I am looking for is from Roche.Better than intravenous sample, less waiting time at Clinic and will probably paid by himself (Insurances will only pay small percentage of total cost)
