HI,

I hate to be a party poper but I thought that this website has to do with Recreational vehicles and associated information.

We don't get scanned or patted down when entering RV.

Thanks, I'll pass. I give up no rights by purchasing an airline ticket. Since the federal government thinks otherwise, it will be a cold day in hell before I set foot on a civilian airliner again.

I will fly military Space-A. They don't put their passengers through a sexual molestation.

I'd love to. But Amtrak has yet to restore service to my little burg after suspending it following Katrina.

So it's the RV or nothing.

I guess I don't think ANYONE is advocating doing nothing. Let's review a few factors:

1. None of our current leadership (Congress, President) will submit to either the pat down or the body scan. Those are fine for unwashed masses, not the elite.
2. There is not one piece of demonstrable evidence that I've seen that any of the current TSA procedures are preventing anything. A TSA agent, on another forum, admits that he tests TSA security and can smuggle a firearm past the procedures 7 out of 10 times that he tries. This includes airports with the body scanners. There is little to no focus at all on what is put into the belly of the airplane besides passenger luggage. My conclusion is that the TSA is re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

We have an elitist government (a non partisan statement - all parties are guilty) who has an elitist mentality toward our security. We know better than anyone else how to protect our airplanes, just as we knew better than anyone else how to deal with the gulf oil spill.

I, for one, am not willing to allow any Federal organization to abandon our Bill of Rights in the name of security. In my view, we are being asked to trade our rights for a thin promise of security - built solely on a house of cards. I can won over. All it will take is all of the government officials who are telling us how good this is fully participating in it, not claiming executive exemption.

What gets me is, the herd everybody into a long line inside a terminal and they don't realize someone could be standing there all wired up and not know it till they pat em down. . What's the differrence if they cut loose in a terminal or in the air. Only thing is it doesn't fall as far.

Robert Burns (an excerpt)

"But Mousie, thou art no thy lane,
In proving foresight may be vain:
The best-laid schemes o' mice an' men
Gang aft agley,
An' lea'e us nought but grief an' pain,
For promis'd joy!"

X-ray unregistered aircraft???

Hello "bachler", think on this. Our great government run security system cannot keep track of all of the privately owned aircraft flying over the land nor landing in the airports. Watch the evening news. Your car is registered and titled but your aircraft? Your body is searched but not your private plane?

Hi Nancy.... not sure I understand your point on this. Private planes are both titled and registered.

Mine's registered but the FAA lost a bunch of registrations so everyone owning a plane has to re-register. Of course, there is an added fee.

But think about it. I pull the plane out of the hanger, back my car up to it and load anything or anybody that I want. No security.

I see your point. I guess most private planes don't hold the 60,000 gallons of jet fuel that's on board a jumbo jet but 100 lbs of C4 would probably make a mess of a lot of things.

Thanks,

Rick

Just ask the IRS agents in Dallas how much damage a private plane can do. Remember that incident about a year ago?

Not to nit-pick, but it was in Austin, TX in case anyone is wanting to Google it.
