You'll need a fairly fast connection and newer equipment. Have fun.

We love google earth. I use it a lot in homeschooling. My kids like it when I type in a location and we "fly" to wherever it is. We have found the eifel tower, walt disney world, the grand canyon, our house, my mom's house, etc. It is a great educational tool. I have the free version. I wonder how much better the $400 version is? I would be tempted to get it if the image quality were better and the pictures more up to date.

Maybe it's because I live in the boondocks, but when I try to see my house it shows early 2003 pictures. There were only 2 houses here then. Also if I zoom in close enough to ID a motorhome size item the picture won't focus. Anyone else having this problem?

If you think Google is awesome, try http://local.live.com/. It blows Google out of the water! Switch to "Bird's eye" view (if it's available for the location you type in the address for). I can see my landscape plants with this one. Better get weeding!
Again, you'll need a fast connection, but what you see is SO detailed.

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

Glenn, that is correct. We estimated that the mapping pics on Google Earth are about 2 years old also. We are at a campground in Central Florida and a new Intersection and huge Ford dealership next door that have been finished for about a year both show new construction on Google mapping.

I couldn't find anything on Google that indicated how often they were planning on updating.

Even with things being a little out of date (and in Florida, that could mean the area you're looking for has been washed or blown away), it really is a cool light.

My guess is the folks at Google will find a way to update it on a regular basis. I could pick out my niece and nephews bikes in their driveway at home.

Amazing!

Google earth is provided free with incredible abilities and coverage and some just have to complain.

Goodness it wasn't that long ago that we used paper for everything.

PJRACER- With all this sophisticated satellite detail viewing it won't be long until they'll (whoever they is) be able to see INSIDE our houses. This MicroSoft program sure got my attention.
