Good ’ole engineering...
Thought you might enjoy this. It's interesting, especially after seeing 100’s of them across the U.S. As each part is added, the weight is shown.

I had no idea they weighed so much. This is a time lapse of constructing a tower. 3 weeks of work in about 4 minutes. Neat video if you like construction of large equipment!

These things are HUGE! I've passed them on the expressway before, and the blades go on forever. The top part is different from the ones I've seen here in Michigan. In the video, they say it's the size of a school bus. The ones I've seen were about the size of a one car garage. Thanks for sharing.

I don't know how many times I've seen the propellers (wings) go down the road. Eastern Washington State has a lot of these farms. We have even been on a tour and got to see the inside. The ladder that they climb up is held to the sides by magnets. It would take me lots longer than 10 minutes to climb that. LOL. If you ever get the chance to get up close, take it. It is really impressive.

There is always a downside too. The device can run away, out of control: it self destructs. They can catch on fire: it self destructs. The wind farm owners walks away. They can kill migratory birds. Just saying.

Take the tour of the one near Ellensburg. We did a few years back. It is pretty interesting.

As I recall, those of you with larger rigs will need to park at the bottom and take your toad or TV to the visitor's center.

We got up close with one of these in Welcome, MN. That monster gave off a weird hum that gave our guts a 'funny' vibration. A little spooky...definitely an impressive piece of technology.
