Bummed out this afternoon
Have an old utility trailer that my parents bought in about 1957, it was used even then. Everything needs rebuilding as the box is rotted out, the tires rotted, bearings shot etc.
Got new ST tires. $212 (not returnable)
New bearings, races and seals. $140 (not returnable)
Now I find that the grease seals are no longer made!!
The only out is to have special seals made or modify the hubs to take the new seals.
New seals are at least $150, no idea what the hub modification would cost.
For what I've spent I could have bought a lighter duty trailer and then built a box on it or rented U-Hauls many times but I wanted the heavy duty trailer and not having to bother renting one. I've hauled 1 yard of gravel at a time with no trouble when the trailer was in good shape.
