dabrooks, only have 3 more winters till we start full timing. If we were going to be here any longer I'd probably look into a pellet stove.

We flew back home to Pennsylvania for Christmas. While there it snowed 2". I shoveled my daughter's small driveway with sneakers on. While shoveling I thought ..... I need to experience this once every ten years just to remind me why I do what I do. We flew back to Arizona just before the Polar Vortex arrived. Ten years ago I shoveled 2" around the campground office while workamping in Jackson Hole Wyoming on Memorial Day. No regrets here I assure you!

It has been a LLLLLong / CCCCold winter (Northern Ohio)....Were going on 60+ days with 1" of snow on the ground or more. But I think it's the day after day of the below average cold that is getting to me. A 20 degree day is like a heat wave.
Like to get out for my first RVing weekend usually about April 10th. So I remind myself that is only about 7 weeks away.
I keep an eye on my parents home while they winter in South Texas. On the northern side of their home I have saved a 6' pile of snow that will keep till they come home mid April....I just like to remind them of what they are missing.

In the last 5 days I cleaned off the driveway 4 times. Supposed to warm up in the next couple days but I won't be holding my breath. Even if it does it will only make the 14+ inches slushy.
This is when I wish we could just go into auto-pilot till April.

Unfortunately, if you are a Canadian and not retired, you are limited to the kind of climate that will either be snow or rain throughout the winter. Americans have waaaaay more options. You guys should count your blessings!
This is my reality, and all the smart Alec "It's 90 here" or "that's why I moved to FL" remarks have been heard so spare me! LOL
As to snow removal, I use what I call a Saskatchewan shovel for doing my large driveway. It's a 2'x4' piece of plywood with a 5' piece of 1"x4" for a handle. I move a 4' wide swath of snow with each pass. Makes short work of my driveway. If the snow is more than 3" deep, out comes the snow blower.
I can hear the cackling in the background.

Les - You certainly won't get any sympathy from me!
If its cold enough and the snow is not overly deep, I use a standard leaf blower to clean off the driveway. We have a concrete drive on a substantial grade (we bought an older house, it wasn't my idea for concrete) so any little bit of packed snow turns to ice. I'd prefer not to use salt.

Some of us here, are suffering for a different reason, not enough or no snow! Yes, I said that we do not have enough snow! One would think that Alaska would not have an issue with snow. Well this year we do have an issue. For the most part there is little snow on the ground to run snow machines, some dog races have been altered and one big snow machine race is going on with rough conditions on the trail. Early Jan we had over 20" at our house and then it warmed up and it all went away. I thought that I was going to have to get the lawn mower out and take care of the lawn. For us there is not enough snow to run our snow machines or enough snow to plow and make some 'side' money.
You all need to send some of the snow to us. I am even willing to share with some of the western states that are low on water.
Some of us are hoping that we get some snow in the next few weeks as this is normally a great time to be out side.

We are on the east side of the Continental Divide up in the Rockies. Having (so far) only a moderate snow year (it's very different on the west side of the Divide). The challenge this season has been the WIND! Every day and night! Personally, I'd rather have snow than wind. \ken
