Charlie, if you want to see a great HO model railroad you have to check out my buddy Darrell's "Cheyenne Division" in Grove City Ohio. I just have way too much fun visiting him and Judy when Denise and I pass through the Columbus area. He's presently in mid command control installation with full sound. May be back there in a year or two to check progress. It really helps that I'm a Big Boy nut.

Dennis, he has probably gone to DCC completely and using sound. Many of my locomotives are sound equipped and the layout is DCC (digital command control).
The decoders for the locomotives can be had for less than 15 bucks without sound.
It adds a lot to the operation and to me it seems a lot easier to wire.

I'll second that comment about the ground shaking trains. And, lots of planes too as the campground is near the landing and takeoff patterns of the airport. Lots of UPS freighters. Also, there are a couple of campgrounds just south of Cinncinnati off of I-65 that is near rail action.
