Jeff Daniels lives in the LP, bit west of Ann Arbor.. I have been to the store where he bought his RV (Which is next to an A&W)..

But I do agree, Camping in Michigan is great, had some good times in several campgrounds and state parks there... Soon as I get the motor fixed I'll be back.

Us also

Last weekend (11-8-14) Fort Custer recreational area. 9 campers out of 300 sites. Very peaceful and quite. Had a nice campfire Friday night just the DW and myself. 39 degrees with a full moon. Only sounds were coyotes in the distance howling at the train whistles when the trains came thru Augusta. We love fall camping in Michigan.

We were at Fort Custer this past summer. I think my wife and I were the only people with sleeves on their shirts! All kidding aside, we enjoyed the stay.

It's funny because a lot of people are not aware of this Michigan state park thats open year around. It's rustic, only 30 amp service and a dump station but it has a lot to offer. 3 nationally known cross country biking trails. 3 fishing lakes. Beautiful swimming beach with concession stand. Disc golf course. Horse trails. Nature trails, dog sledding in the winter months , etc.
It's busy during the summer months but the DW and I take pleasure of the solitude in the spring and fall.

Stayed at a campground in Wakefield Michigan April 2011, got 24" of snow at the end of season. They ended up getting ~190" that year.
