Camping near home

We have camped in over 20 States so far and this week decided to camp about 15 miles from our home. It is a nice State Park but it just seems odd being so close to home! Any thoughts?

We do it all the time. Hard to paint the s/b or mow the lawn from there!

We do it a lot too. We have to use this thing we spent so much money on. The lawn mowing/raking can wait.

We did that for years while we were still working. There was a campground about 20 miles from us and I'd take the trailer up there on Thursday after work and set it up.

Then on Friday after work we'd go camping. Camping is camping.

As a matter of fact we've been sleeping in our coach for the last two nights right beside our house. Company is coming and we're leaving Monday for Florida so we want to make sure everything is ready for travel and all systems are working.

So, in answer to your question, it seems pretty normal to me.

Count Us In!

We moved to Colorado in the 80's because we loved all the State Parks and the NF CG's, and the healthy lifestyle. We spent 15 years visiting most of them, then started traveling to other areas across the US. We recently decided to revisit some of our old favorite sites in Colorado again, some of which are only 30 minutes to an hour away. And, it is a lot cheaper on the gasoline bill. . .

We have 4 state parks within 45 minutes plus Corp. of Engineers and TVA campgrounds on the river. And a city park is downtown on Pickwick Lake.

Our friends with a motorhome extensively camp locally, and they only go through one tank of fuel yearly.

Heck, I've camped in my own driveway! It's a great way to check all the systems after you un-winterize the coach.

Three times this summer we went to a neighborhood campground. It was only 4 milers down the road from the house. We might as well have been 100 miles from home. What matters is that WE WERE CAMPING!!!

We have another family living with us. To get some quiet & privacy, we will pick a place nearby & camp!

We like to find places nearby - a bit farther away than you are - our radius is probably 50 miles. We have gotten away, we're in the RV! We have learned so much about our part of the country by doing this. There's so much history, waterfalls & wineries to visit!

We go out once a month with a weekender group. Differing CG each month, typically within an hours or so drive time.

Yep, 15 miles counts as camping.

We do it all the time, especially when we don't have the time to go far or we just need a quick get away. We have a favorite CG less than 10 miles from the house. Keeps fuel costs down and we can use the MH more often.

We're in the Houston area and we love Huntsville State Park, which is right up the road. Nothing wrong with that. Enjoy!
