Camping World and charges

Just a small grip- shop charges = 10% of a bill plus 150.00 hour labor charge plus huge mark up on parts for profit and all that equals it not being fixed properly or sloppy work and having to have someone else fix the problem (me) so never again for me in a Camping World — too big = don’t give hoot

You are one of many voices, mine included, that have no use, or faith in CW. As you said, too often shoddy work and sky high prices make for a terrible experience.

You are preaching to the Choir. Glad to see that nothing has changed with CW.

I have had good experience at Camping World in Monticello MN. I don't think you should condemn all shops. I think Camping World is like any big corporation that provides any service, some good shops and some bad. The trouble is knowing which ones are good.

Maybe we should have a post and ask people which shops they have had good service from and which are bad.

I think Camping World has it's place, they perform some services that are hard to find at other shops. That may be why they cost so much. I believe that the entire RV industry could use some upgrade in customer service and fair pricing.

I think there is a very good reason Newmar is building a huge Service Building in Nappanee , first to consolidate all their little shops but I think they realize that some in their dealer network cannot or will not keep up and spend the money to hire, train, and keep good technicians.

Its a short sighted view not to focus on after sales service because when the economy cools off people may not be buying new but servicing existing units and these short sighted dealers will be left behind.

We had the pleasure of getting work done at Newmar recently and was really impressed by their professionalism, thoroughness, friendly environment. I think what I liked the most was that are only one shift a day on weekdays and no weekend work, that shows me they value their employees and I find that a refreshing change.

I've never stepped foot in a "Camping world" I live an hour away from one. But in at least 10 years of belonging to different RV forums, yours is the first positive thing I have read about Camping world.

That to me equals poor customer service. So I'll probably never step foot in one.

Was sitting in the waiting area at General RV (Mt. Clemons) today. NO I was not there with the RV,, Just buying a few parts. But I have mobility limits and I reached the limit so I had to sit a spell.

Chatting with other customers one is heading South soon and ask about where to park.. I mentioned Flying-J and the My Pilot app. and the fact that where as Pilots have Arby, Subway, McD's many J's have Denny's

And if you belong to AARP you show the AARP card at the register and they pass the check through the shrinky-dink 15% off.

Also Good Sam's gets you 5 cents on gas.

Well another person said she had GS, Elite but she has to go to CW for service and they are always "Make an appointment 2 months from now"

Yup. that's a problem

I told her I've been there a couple of times and they screwed it up. I mean
An oil change.. I specified High Test (Synthetic) they used Dino

Inverter install. they re-balanced the panel (50 amp) with both A/C's on the same leg.. NO, that's not how you do it.

With as many easy to find bad reviews of camping world it's amazing to me that people still shop there.

I have our RV at Camping World right now for warranty work. Warranty work would be the only reason for taking it to them (but I would consider taking elsewhere and paying). We had to take the RV to the Camping World 240 miles away vice the one 40 miles away because they were the dealer we bought it from and the other dealer would not touch it. Problem with the radio and the kitchen countertop that, when delivered, was deeply scratched. They (sales) originally promised to replace the countertop, but CW warranty folks turned them down. Now they are attempting to “fix” the scratches themselves. I expect they can fix the radio problem, but I am not expecting much on the countertop and will be disappointed, but I expect to be disappointed. How CW’s business model can survive in this economy is beyond me.

It will be my last visit to a Camping World.

I don't think anyone should be glad nothing has changed at CW. It's a shame the CW top people are not either smart enough or caring enough to set some quality control standards. This has gone on for years and folks continue to support CW. I never bought a camper from them but I used to buy from their catalogs on a regular basis.
I'd like to see a total boycott of any and all CW stores and sales lots. Why anyone would even step onto a CW property just plain stymies me.
I for one will never step onto a CW property or darken their doorway. Especially after their owner's remarks directed to people who think or vote like me. He doesn't want me there anyway.
At least they had courtesy enough to remove my name from their mailing and E-mail lists when I requested they do so.

I wouldn't even do that. I'm not going to take their crap and they can't have mine.

As I've mentioned before, I believe that CW stays viable due to a basically newer, misinformed, lack of RVING experience, newbie, trusting, maybe younger customer base who really don't know any better.

For me, CW = Can't Win!
