Camping World and Hunting

Camping World has canceled sponsorship of The Apprentice because Trump's sons went on a legal and licensed african safari. I believe this will hurt their business.
ANTI-HUNTING ALERT ... CAMPING WORLD!

I won't support them either.

They wouldn't have these problems if they could just keep thier mouths shut!

IMHO the CEO of CW should have not gotten involved in something like this. CW should concentrate on serving those people that buy their products and/orservices, US, the outdppr enthusists. I could care less about sponsorship of Trump's program, but I do care about good service, good products and being treated fairly. I have hunted and fished since I was a small boy and hope to for sometime yet. I never was inclined to trophy hunt nor to hunt exotic animals but many do, including many of us. From what I can gather these guys were hunting legally with the proper permits and in areas that have excess of the animals they were taking. I dont see they did anything wrong, just that the CEO didnt like it and he was ill informed of the facts. The CEO of CW needs to cowboy up, make a sincere apology and work to repair the damage he has done to CW by his remarks. I want say I want ever use them again, I may have to, but they will be way down the list of places I spend my money. There are a lot of other places to get items I need for my MH and camping so I really dont need them, they need me.

"It sort of shows that even with his folksy" how ya doin talk", he is still a Politically correct "my ties to tight I cant get blood to my brain" CEO, no different I guess than any other CEO. Everyone here has an opinion about everything but most of us don't control corporations that at a whim withdraw sponsorship because of an opinion. I had 7 things on my wish list that I've found on Amazon. Goodbye camping world

Fred, you said we don't control corporations but in reality, we do. We are the client. If you don't have a client, you go out of business.

Giving up Camping World will be no loss for me... oh and I've never even hunted. But I would defend the right to do so. Also, I really appreciate others that deliver my tasty meat(s) to the grocer.

I miss the days when business was not overtly political.

This is the email I sent them.

"It has come to my attention that you have pulled support of a TV program due to someone related to that program going hunting in Africa.

I could care less about this TV program but if you are taking an anti-hunting stance I will re-think my subscriptions to Sam's and Camping World purchases. There are many other ways to get discounts and purchase RV related items. You have plenty of competition which does not slap us in the face for being the outdoors type and loving the hunting sports. Please clarify so I don't have to go solely on what is screaming across the many RV sites I frequent."

Nothing could change my buying habits quicker than this!

And, this is the reply I got.

From Camping World............."To clarify our position, Camping World as America’s Largest Outdoor company, believes in personal freedom.
In this country, people are free to choose. This issue at hand is not about whether people should be able to hunt or not. Our company is neither for nor against hunting. We are for personal choice and having people enjoy the outdoors in whatever fashion they choose. However, in our opinion, if and when the hunting of endangered species occurs, whether in the United States or abroad, it is not acceptable to even the most avid of hunters. We remain strong in our conviction of preserving the outdoors, protecting our great country's lands and the freedom to choose.

Sincerely,
Camping World Customer Care"..................................

Heres my e mail to CW

My DW and I are members of GS and Camping World and do most of our RV shopping at CW, the latest purchase being about 2 months ago for a 50 amp surge protector. I was surprised that Camping World had become an advertiser/supporter on the TV show apprentice. I don't watch the show. I was more surprised that Camping World withdraw its advertising money from the show because Donald Trump’s son went on a safari to Africa? If I understand it, there were huge fees paid for permits to hunt a non-endangered animal. Fees, which are used in the conservation of other at risk animals. What do you say to all the hunters that are your customers, or better yet what do we say to Camping World? Although I didn't understand why CW had committed its advertising money to the Apprentice I don't agree with the corporate thinking that went into cancelling the contract. It worries me when a CEO is all folksy and shucksy in a controlled media, but makes it apparent that there is a slick and defined big city corporate agenda, defined by what, I don't know. I'm gonna (like my folksy use of going to), rethink my need to buy from CW. I just don't agree with a corporation as big as GS and CW driving an agenda in an attempt to curtail a completely legal activity......in another democratic country.
