Camping World Games

A work colleague told me they were paying cash 70k cash for a MH and the camping world sales rep tried to persuade them to finance it, they held firm on paying cash as they are very wealthy.

He must miss getting a nice bonus from the finance company.

It's not games, that's the way any loan purchase is as well. Whoever sells the loan gets a commission.

When you buy a car and purchase it via a loan, they make extra money.

And if they are convinced to buy an 'extended warranty/service' contract, they'll make more extra money.

I used the word games in jest.

My colleague told me that the sales guy was very aggressive about it.

I must ask my companies credit union does the loan officer get commission.

The games begin when you pull on to the lot and continue until you leave.

Ford does the same thing. I wanted to pay cash for an F-150. The salesman told me I would have to pay an extra $1,000 if I didn't finance it through Ford Motor Credit. He told me that Ford gives the dealership $1,000 for the finance contract. He said they pass this savings onto the customer to sell more trucks. The dealership gets the $1,000 after I made 3 payments. So I financed the new truck through Ford Motor Credit and paid it off after 3 months. Kinda strange way to do business but I did save $1,000. It was also a much better deal than any other Ford dealership gave me.

I think that's what happened to my colleague. They ended up getting the finance but will pay it off after a month.

I had a short tenure at selling motorhomes for a large dealership. There was lots of pressure to have the customer finance the purchase. That was only one of the pressures I encountered as a salesman there. After 5 weeks, I quit having made considerable commission pay. Life is too short to lead it in that environment. I have seen the behind the scenes of the motorhome sales business and it can be ugly.

I can just imagine what it's like.
