Can we discuss Gin and Tonics, please.....

Mostly about tonic water.....We like Boodles or Bombay gin. Tonic water is the problem. Fentimen's is OK but expensive. Others are loaded with corn syrup; or if sugar free, artificial sweetner. Found Hansen's tonic water: carbonated water, sugar, citric acid, natural citrus flavors and quinine.

Pretty good....but...is there a better tonic water....out there ?

Thank You....

Wow, never thought about that much difference in tonic but I guess it could make a difference.

I usually just drink Gin on the rocks, an acquired taste for sure.

Schweppes or Canada Dry. But, preferably Canada Dry by a wide margin.

Bombay or Hendricks usually, really like Four Peel fun from watershed distillery lately. Usually go for Schweppes tonic water. Perfect for the 90 degree Father's Day today!

DW. switched from G&T to; Gin, dirty martinis . Partially because of differences between Canadian and USA , diet tonic water .
Or was it because the martinis allow more room in the glass for olives ?
I can't be sure.

As noted Hansen's is pretty good, but hard to find and expensive. Schweppes is ok, Canada Dry is better, I haven't found much of anything else.
And as seems to be the trend, everything is sweet, sweet, sweet. Why does everything have to taste like sugar water? I'm willing to bet that the tonic water of previous generations was not nearly as sweet.
In fact, I remember buying Canada Dry in Canada many years ago and being amazed at how less sweet it was compared to the soda pop they try to pass off as tonic water in the US. I don't know if the Canadian version contains less sugar than the US version now, but it sure did 20 years ago.
One thing I do to cut the sweetness is to add a little LaCroix Lime flavored sparking water to my drinks.

The other question is it "gin and tonics" or "gins and tonic?"
