We take the boats every where we go. Try LL Bean's kayak lessons, well worth the price. We settled on Hurricane Santee 126 Sports kayaks. Large 55" x 24" opening easy for us old folks to get in and out of. Very stable and light weight 26lbs. We carry them on the Fit or the Jeep. The dog or the tripod fits easily in the front with the wide opening. Very easy to paddle. Wanted something that the DW could put on take off the roof by herself, if she wanted to go out with the girls, and feel safe on the water. Not cheap but worth the money for ease of paddling and, light weight with large opening.
