About 2 years ago, the DW & I stopped in Vicksburg, MS, at the RV park, next to the casino. We went to the buffet there and had a great dinner. Then the DW, wanted to try her luck at the roulette wheel, so she decided to take the next class on the wheel. I'm not much of a gambler, so I decided to play the slots. After a while, (about $25 later), I hit a $900.00 jackpot. It was my first win of any kind, so I didn't know what to do! The lights were blinking on the top of the machine and bells were ringing all over! I turned to the lady playing next to me and asked "what was going on"? She replied that I had just won $900! Naturally, I wanted to get the DW there to show her, but I didn't want to leave the machine! I was waving and signaling to her, across the room, but she didn't notice. Finally, I told the lady next to me that I would give her $10.00 if she would go get my DW, pointing her out to the lady. So, she did and when my DW got there, she just couldn't believe it. She said, "no, you only won $9.00". Just then a casino person rolled a cart up and handed me $900. We immediately left the casino! The next year, we went back to Vicksburg and enjoyed another buffet and left About $200.00 ahead, from the slots, which paid for our meal and our rent, at the park. Thinking I'll go back again soon! Ha, Ha!

The tables were populated by ugly folks, (none of the TV beauties) each frozen in place trying not to reveal their hand. I took one loop around the floor and back out the door. Just not my cup of tea.

My wife and I have lived in Las Vegas (Henderson),NV for almost eleven years and other than to go to shows or to eat, we stay out of the casinos because I have a gambling "problem". The problem is I don't win ......... Haaaaaaa. When we first moved here, I was talking to a Highway Patrolman while we were both waiting at a car wash. Told him we had just moved here and he said "It's a great place to live if you don't have two habits, drinking and gambling ". So far so good. The casinos used to be more lively when the change girls were making the rounds, and the machines were loud, and all the coins clinked into the tray when you won. Now it's electronic tickets.
If you come to Vegas, DON'T miss Frankie Moreno at the Stratosphere showroom. Have known him for over nine years and he is the most talented performer I have ever seen. If you watch Dancing With The Stars, you probably saw him a couple of weeks ago singing and playing the piano backwards.

Years ago I was in Las Vegas for Comdex, the giant computer expo. I took a free gambling lesson. The pit boss who taught it told us up front that on the Blackjack tables (my favorite game) they take $5, they give you back $4. They take $5, they give you back $4. etc etc etc. Someone might have an occasional lucky streak, but over time the casino keeps $1 of every $5 you put on the table.

Bruce,
Only $1 of every $5,....... sheeesh, I wouldn't think that would pay the electricity bill in Las Vegas.

Don't know how they can build those fancy casinos.Everyone you talk to always wins.Used to be a saying at the race track. He came in a $35000 Caddy and left in a $200 000 Greyhound.

Held the dice for 35 minutes one time on a cruise ship...that was exciting.
Love to play the horses, but the takeout is 18-25%...gaurantee if someone says they can pick the horses consistently (with that kind of takeout) and I'll show you a consistent liar.

I love Casinos and I stop at every one I see if possible. I am not that much of a gambler, but I collect Casino Chips and Tokens. In fact I just completed an update of my $1.00 Chip Collection and it stands at 421 not counting duplicates I got for trading. Now I need to do the $5.00 Chips and Silver Strikes.
I see my Gambling as "Entertainment" and have limits that I follow (Other then my collecting that is). I also love to play Texas Hold em and in "Cash" games at Casinos I am a couple hundred ahead, Tournaments, I have yet to finish in the money except for Play Money Tournaments.
I started going to Las Vegas for Comdex many years ago and then the wife and I bought a Timeshare unit there and we would go every year for a week. Then I started a yearly Texas Hold em Tournament for people I played on line with at the Orleans in Las Vegas and that lasted for 6 years and I met a lot of on-line friends at them much like meeting people at RV Gatherings and now when I am traveling I stop and spend a night or two in their driveways to visit.
My biggest win ever was at Harrah's on the Strip in Las Vegas playing "Let It Ride" the first year that hit the Casinos, $700.00. Another time I was passing through Reno from Salt Lake City to Sacramento and stopped for the night. In the morning I went to the Cal Neva Casino for their cheap Breakfast and thought what the heck I will play some video poker for a few minutes. Well I held the Ace of Spades and discarded the other 4 and it came up with the King, Queen, Jack and 10 of Spades to give me a Royal Flush. The floor walked was dumbfounded when she saw I was only playing single quarters. It paid $67.50, if I had played the max of 5 quarters it would have paid $1250.00.
Nothing wrong with a little gambling as long as you set and stick to limits you can afford and look at it as Entertainment similar to taking the wife out to dinner and a movie.

my partner and I frequent a casino/RV park in Washington state and we do very well thank you on the slots. I average 1200 to 2000.00 per visit and my best year was two years ago at the same casino and my winnings for the year from that casino was around $34,000.00 all on slot machines. we love the casinos.

We just came back from Yuma and Laughlin. We only play the penny machines, big spenders. Like someone else earlier said $10 limit. We consider it good luck if it lasts 2 or 3 hrs. Love the atmosphere, but the smoke gets us, along with the gals with the five gallon perfume application.

Recently learned you can boondock behind the Tropicana in Laughlin for $7/night.
They have a dump station and water available.
