Arrow CB radio use??

Anyone use them much anymore?

If so what are the basics of how to use one?

Basically, you push the button and say @#&)(*&&$#!!(*&. At least that's about all I hear.

X2 on the above post. Only time we turn ours on is when traveling with a group of other campers, then we use ch 16. Sometimes I turn it on if caught in a slowdown or stalled traffic to see if anyone is talking about what's going on.

Can;t remember the last time I started a conversation on it.

When we travel we use it quite a bit. Thom actually lets me get on it more often as the truckers will usually talk more to me then to him The language problem that everyone else seems to have is no problem with me as I really don't hear all that they seem to when I am on it.
The CB has saved us from a sniper on an overpass and numerous very bad crashes that would have had us tied up in traffic for hours. To us it is very much worth it to have and use.

There is a movement on RV.NET to set up ch 13 as the RVers channel. I have my Cobra on 13 all the time and we use a set of hand held midlands for when I need to back up. We tried cell phones for backing up, but mine was not loud enough for mr to hear what DW was telling me. Both radios have weather alert on them which is nice, and if we get into traffic, I switch to 19 for traffic updates. There is little talking on the radios, but I have them for another means of communication in case we are in a dead area for our cell phones, we like to do a lot of boondocking in remote areas.

Back in the day, CB radios were the way to get info while on the road. Fast forward to today, smartphones and gps units have transformed the CB into an endangered species.

I tune my CB to RVers channel 13. Then drive for a long time. Result is nothing heard.

I keep a portable hand held cb in our motor home. The only time I turn it on is if traffic is stopped to find out more info.

Have one in the Jeep. Commonly used for jeep to jeep group communications when off-roading.

Had one in previous Motorhome. Never used it. Don't have one, or miss one, in the current coach.

Channel 13 was a "Good Sam" channel in the 70's,so its nothing new, all though as growing up in the 80's and 90's we ran 19, as 13 was dead and nobody on it, I do remember Dad saying 13 WAS the RV channel back in the day, and back then you had your Good Sam number with a "region code" on the back of your rig.

I have yet to ever hear a RVer on 13, I have always ran 19 or 17 (on the left coast).

I must be old school because I just ordered a new CB last week (one that will scan other channels). I don't mind the chatter on 19 and being I like driving at night, sometimes it's good entertainment

We have one in our rig and a portable we keep in the Jeep. We use them all the time. Very useful in areas with no cell coverage.

We use ours when convoying or when there's an accident or travel delay.

We follow channel 13, too. There is not a lot of conversation, tho, that is for sure. It's nice to have when traveling in a group or when trying to understand what is going on with the traffic up ahead. One time, another RVer cared enough to let me know that my engine compartment hatch was not closed all of the way as he zipped past me on the highway. I've not initiated any conversations, but I always respond when someone reaches out to me. \ken
