CB use in Canada.

Be careful when using a CB in most of Canada. Because in most of Canada if not all using a CB or cell phone while driving can get you ticketed for distracted driving. Also some provinces also make it an offence if you are eating, or drinking coffee etc while driving as that is also distracted driving.

I was well aware of the Distracted Driving Laws regarding cell phones, and even eating, as far as that goes, but I never really considered the CB.... Good Point!!!

In Alberta CB radios (handheld mikes) are not considered distracted driving if used in conjunction with legitimate business purposes or in the participation in emergency services. Having a snack is also not distracted driving.

Other provinces may be similar.

But if CB radios are used by RVers on leave then they are not covered. Around 5 or so years ago you could not eat or drink while driving in Alberta. It's good that they changed the laws. Here in the NWT the regs state CBs when not reporting a MVC or other activity that require either LE, EMS, or Fire services. CBs can only be used while driving on seasonal roads meaning winter roads.

In Ontario the CB is considered a hand held device. A walkie talkie would be. You can use your cell phone if it is hands free whether blue tooth or wired to headset.Similar to a number of US states. Don't get caught texting or checking emails.
