Cold and getting colder

BERRRR!

South Mississippi in Nov. and it is in the mid 30s and falling.
Predicted to drop into the mid 20s tonight.
Darn that global warming!
I blame Al Gore, he says invented it.

They missed the mark

While it was predicted we would reach a low of 9 deg. through the night we actually had a low of -11 deg. It's up to -2 now.
Good day to make some test runs with one of our race sleds.

I'm feeling your pain. It was in the mid 70's the day before yesterday. Dropped to mid 20's last night here in south Louisiana too. That front came through day before yesterday and dropped the temp about 30 degrees in roughly two hours. That was rough. We have some rain coming tomorrow, which means you probably do too in Mississippi.

Current cold snap is weather.
Global warming is another much more worrisome issue.

It happens about every 15,000 to 20,000 years. Surely you have heard of glaciers. That is what formed things like the Grand Canyon.

The Grand Canyon was not formed by glaciers at any point. Water erosion through the rock over a very long span of time is what formed it.

There is zero question that we are experiencing global warming. You can argue about whether or not it had been caused or accelerated by human activity. But anyone who bothers to look at the weather patterns at the extreme margins of the Earth, where change is magnified, can conclude only one thing: the climate is warming and what I grew up with will not be the norm for the grandchildren and great grandchildren in our family.

What do you think made the glacier ice melt? Could it be Global warning?
Weather patterns are recorded for only a few hundred years.
It would be nice if we could set the thermostat for the planet. But what would we set it to? What might be nice for you might be bad for someone else. Warmer weather might be better for crops in some parts of the world, more food. Colder might be better for some, more skiing and snowmen.

Dang that’s cold. Hope you guys know how to drive in the ice. We went on a European vacation for about 18 months in 2014 that touched on two winters. I don’t know how cold it was, but most of the time it said -6 ceees on the dashboard of my car.
See you in springtime

Cold and getting colder

Tuesday afternoon I'm in shorts and flip flops putting freeze covers on all the outside faucets and draining the pool pump so they won't freeze. Wednesday morning I can't open the truck door because of a 1/4 inch of ice coating the truck. If you don't like the weather in Mississippi, just wait 12 hours, it will change.
