As a recent transplant to NJ I'm somewhat shocked & disappointed that the Garden State didn't make the top 10 list.

With the almost daily reports of indictments, corruption & 'pay to play' schemes I'd have thought we could have done better. I demand a recount!!

That is pure donkey dust. There is not a week that goes by someone is not charge with some type of corruption crime in NJ. Just yesterday 2 council members were charge with forgery of other council members signatures.
These are headlines over pass 3-4 months
Mayor & wife get 52 months in Federal prison.
Construction official pleads to accepting over $30,000 from just one contractor
Newark mayor goes to jail
This is just a sample of the headlines at least once a week.
Knowing what goes on in NJ I really feel sorry for the people in the states that are worse.

In Nevada, I can't speak about the State level, but we've had our share of corruption at the county government level.

The big joke is the Illinois governor was outed just after threatening Bank of America on national TV. I guess we now know who is running the state.
Everyone else is now pretending they don't know him. And all the bidders for the senate seat are trying to chant the invisible mantra. My guess is the FBI will never publish the list of the bidders. Too many very visible names. All the contenders are tainted forever.

Three of the last 7 Illinois governors have been sent to prison. This guy will make it 4 of the last 8!!
National average is that only 48% of murderers go to prison. So in Illinois, it is easier to go to prison if you have been a governor.

I was unable to find the list of 10 most corrupt states in '08. However, North Dakota was listed as # 1 this year. Who'd a thunk?

I do feel somewhat vindicated as I found the list for '07 & I can proudly say that New Jersey
did make the grade. Here's the '07 list:

1-Lousiana 2-Mississippi 3-Kentucky
4-Alabama 5-Ohio 6-Illinois 7-Pennsylvania
8-Florida 9-New Jersey & coming in last at #
10- New York

Once again, the South leads the way to show the rest of nation how to do it!

The South learned it from the North during the Reconstruction following the Civil War. The North sent in the best teachers they could find.
