Country map

So my wife and i were talking about one of those maps of the states that alot of RV's have fill in when they visit the state and we were recapping every where we stayed. So my question is what constitutes staying in a state? Does is need to be a full 24 stay? Do you need to be out if the rv? Does passing through count?

I don't have the map, but on a web based map I mark every state I've been in. I imagine some only mark overnight stays while some count states they passed thru in the RV. I'll be interested in the comments too.

That's a good question. Its an individual choice. We did all 49 States almost twice and all 10 Canadian Provinces and didn't fill in the map until we slept there in the MH.

You would think overnight would be the threshold but we all have "walmarted" and I don't think that counts as staying in a state

Lol i realize we can make our own rules but i guess my questions should have been, collectively what are your rules.

I think mine are at least a 24 hr stay and some type of recreation or local culture. That would be a valid " been there"

Well one of my friends says that you have to overnight in the state to count it. Another friend says you have to touch the ground in each state. I say if my RV travels in that state I count it. I was there & my RV was there

So it is just whatever you want it to be. Enjoy the ride.

If my wheels hit the highway of a state, I've been there. I see the trees, cities, exits, and deal with the state's own particular driving habits!

Don't think there are "map police" out there, so figure out what makes sense to you.

Our "rules" come from the fact that although we've been to all 50 states during our business lives, we only count those where we've been in our rig. That does include those we've touched with our wheels, whether or not we've slept there. Makes sense to us & in the end, that's all that counts, right?

Ya I agree. My best friend says u got to touch the ground with your feet. So he missed Delaware - turn back drove some 50 mile-steps out of RV touches the ground gets back in and takes off. Then he tells me my way of just having the RV tires not count. Lmao

Sure works for me. And also makes for good thread.

My wife says it has to be a planned trip, not necessarily a final destination but a " lets stop at blank and spend the day"
