I use a differing card for whenever the card is out if my hand. Such as giving to a waiter at a restaurant. These times are when the card is at most risk. One that does not have any automatic payments coming out of it or is main usage card, so as to minimize my inconvenience if compromised.

That is why I keep multiple gas co. cards active. That way if it is hacked at the pump all they are getting is that account, hopefully. Pumps just ask to enter billing zip. Always carry enough cash to pay for a dinner. Actually prefer to use cash at restaurants while we are traveling.

I always bring with us enough cash so that we can get home if the worst happens. The cash goes into the safe and we don't touch it until we get home. So far we've never had to use it.
