Cross Country Road Trip

My boyfriend and I are driving across country from New Jersey to California. He has a truck and we will be towing my car with a tow dolly we just bought. Does anyone here know if we are passing through states that require registration for the tow dolly, is there a chance they will let us go since we are just passing through? Thanks in advance!

Here in Texas you don't register a 2 wheel dolly. But some states require brakes on dolly at a certain weight. I think 3500 pounds.

Check the registration requirements for the state that your boyfriends truck is registered in. Other states will go by that requirement.

Real simple way of looking at it is IF you are LEGAL (registration and driver's license) in your home state you are legal anywhere in the country.

Whatever your state's requirements are, is all you need.
