Should not be taken that way. Some over speak to make a point.
Some agents can be very officious and like to make the power play.

I am always happy to get passed through the border without any fuss.
I will continue to declare and pay what I have to, for the privledge to winter in the warm south.

I agree, honesty is the best policy.

Unfortunately there are enough people who get caught trying to cheat the rules that there is justification to keep a large staff. Honesty would soon reduce the staffing to an agent and few clerks to collect the appropriate duties and taxes.

Yes , Information has been shared for a few years now. If you visit Canada, US customs knows when and where you crossed. And visversa.

Then don’t make the comparison.

Agreed. Reminds me of this one video I watched of a Canadian going into the US and he was being the biggest jerk ever. Asking the border agent questions like, 'why?' and not being very cooperative. He said all sorts of ignorant **** like, "I'm Canadian, you can't detain me" or better, "I'm not a terrorist".
Border agents have serious jobs to do. They aren't bagging your groceries. They are literally making sure our countries are safe and liking them to Nazi's is unforgivably ignorant.
I have a Nexus card so I had an interview with a US and Canadian border agent and because of that, my travels over the border are smooth as can be. They will always retain the right to detain me for any reason and search my belongings so I ensure I don't have an attitude when crossing the border.

Next time you visit the casino, ask to speak to the manager. Explain to him that you have always enjoyed coming into Canada to leave a bunch of your hard earned money at their casino, but do to recent experiences at the border, this is your, and some of your friends last trip to their casino. You will now be spending your money at Stateside casinos exclusively!
Might not make any difference, but the casino's have a HEFTY LOBBYING ORGANIZATION, and might be able to "lean on" someone to make the border people lighten up some.

On my last trip to Canada, the agent seemed to think that all Americans were gun-toting cowboys! She asked whether I had a gun 3 times. Didn’t ask about drugs, alcohol, bombs or if I had illegal aliens under the floorboards-just guns...but she was polite! Funny what some people think important.

Should not for sure. One always has to make sure there can be no alternate interpretation of the words you write. Many do not understand the context of the quote but look at the absolute words.

Just imagine how many people from the US are bringing guns into Canada for personal protection. I watch a border show in Canada and it seems quite often, you'll see an American bringing a gun (or guns) because she/he's going hunting in Alaska and had no idea about Canadian laws. Truly funny.

I live on the Canadian border, I cross all the time at Detroit/Windsor, Port Huron/Sarnia, and I've taken the ferry across many, many times.
I have never had a problem crossing.
In my youth over 30 years ago we used to get tossed back all the time for being drunk or high or trying to bring back that good Canadian beer. Once, we had a Jeep completely taken apart in Canada, they found nothing but still decided they didn't want us in their country that night and sent us back. That was a long time ago and we were stupid kids.
Also, a couple posters said something about passports. Border state residents can get an enhanced drivers license so you don't need a passport. Same goes for Canadian citizens.
We love Canada. The wife and I ran the Detroit Free Press International Marathon last October, it was awesome running over the Ambassador Bridge and through the tunnel. The streets in Canada were lined with great people cheering us on.

All work done by repair facilities that report, which outside of dealers probablly isn't many.
So you think Canada has an account with Carfax or does Carfax supply the data for free?

The gun issues may sound as strange to Americans as it does to Canadians but for opposite reasons. There has been an increase in gun violence in my area. When major crimes have been broken up, many times firearms illegal in Canada are seized. There is a large business in importing illegal arm into Canada. Both our border agencies are doing what they are paid to do. 99% of the time I find both to be courteous and efficient often offering help or advice if required or asked. Perhaps the 1% had a bad day or maybe don’t like the attitude they detect.
