If you have an honest face like mine they wave you right through but you do need a passport, NO Firearms, No bear spray, No tear gas, etc. Questions are normally how much money do you have, are you bringing anything to sell, how long do you expect to be in Canada, do you have fresh fruit or vegetables, firewood, alcohol, cigarettes, generally kind of basic questions. At least that's what it was for me a month or so ago. If you choose to run some searches there a several threads on this forum. I'd also suggest try to cross during non rush hours. Good times are most often mid morning or mid afternoon, at least that's been my experience.

Canada let me bring in a few tomatoes that were in the salad crisper but crossing back into the US the tomatoes were not allowed.

Hello as a Canadian crossing into the states is like crossing into Canada Here is what I do, I pull up to the window when told shut of my engine ( before they ask) remove my sunglasses hand them my passport and smile tell them where I am going and how long I will be staying. I only answer questions they ask and offer no more I do stop at the duty free and buy something that sales slip is your proof of when you entered, as it is dated and time stamped dont lie be honest I have never had problem just remember they know when you crossed and where and how long you have been gone tell the truth or they will catch you in a lie.One other note we never bring fruit, veggie, meat, we stop in the next town or city and get our supplies for our trip saves a hugh hassle. If your traveling with pets (we do 4 pups) I carry the bag of food that the pups food came in so they can see whats it made from, also have your pets papers in order in case they ask ( I don't offer them but I do have them in case ) Thats what I have learned to have a hassle free boarder crossing.

We declared our bear spray when we went into Canada three weeks ago and had absolutely no problems. They wanted to make sure it was in a large container and was marked bear spray. They will not permit small pepper spray bottles.

Your hassles or lack of hassles will depend on when and where you cross also. As others have said, no guns, no tear gas or bear spray, and be honest. Don't take more than $10,000 in cash into or out of the US without declaring it. We have found that if we cross at peak times like holidays or weekends that the questions will be more than at off times. We can cross at the Peace Bridge with no hassles into Canada but more hassles into the States. Crossing at the Blue Water Bridge is more of a hassle than the Peace Bridge but less of a hassle than the Ambassador Bridge.

Above all else, be honest and be courteous. These folks do not have an easy job and they don't need some wise acre making their day more difficult.

We crossed into Canada last summer at Port Huron/Sarnia so easily it was almost like waving us through. I was prepared for it to be harder. When we re-entered the states at Niagara Falls, it was a little harder in that we had about a 30 min. wait, and they did ask a few basic questions. They never asked about food, and they never seemed to care about the dog. They were searching some units, just not ours. I don't know if they were random searches or if they had a specific reason. We again crossed back into Canada in our car at Niagara with one or two basic questions that were no big deal. When we again re-entered the states to go to our MH, we waited in line
1 1/2 hrs. as it was so busy. So, make sure you stop and use the potty if you're not in a MH. Ask me how I know this.

We crossed into Canada at Sweetgrass/Coutts and it was a very each process. Looked at our passports and drivers license. Asked us if we had any weapons and where we were going and how long we would be in Canada. Gave us our documents back and we were through. Did not even ask us about produce. Took less than 2 minutes with the border guard.

I have a Conceal Carry Weapons permit from Missouri. I plan to travel through Canada on our way to Alaska sometime over the next couple years. Will probably stay up there a couple months before heading back. We never travel without our weapon on board. Is there any way I can transport my small revolver through Canada?

And don't try to sneak it in; if you were to get caught the penalties can be severe.
