I've never met anyone who thinks changing the clock twice a year is a good idea.

Daylight Savings Time.... DST which also stands for Dumb Stupid Thing, and Well there are other words I could used for the "D". This applies to all time zones save eastern where

Eastern Daylight Saving Time = EDST = Extra Dumb Stupid Time.

The idea is to save energy by getting you home before dark.. Of course you go to work in the dark.. But the effect is to leave more daylight for things like playing golf after you get off work.

Same thing could be accomplished by leaving the clocks alone and simply changeing the hours of operations and the lyrics of a song or 3 depending on the season.

For example in January Dolly sings: Working 9 to 5
And in July.. Working 8 to 4

And "Five o'clock world" becomes Four O'Clock World In the summer.. Simple.

But .. Well.. Costs millions of dollars to change the clocks 2x a year. UNLESS

There are 4 clocks in my bedroom 3 will change automatically (Two are computers and the 3rd is my Atomic Watch) The 4th is buried and I really do not care what it says

There are 3 clocks in my Radio room.. I will eventually change one
And the dash clock in my car (The one in the MH is buried just now)

Atomic clocks self adjust every night..

Oh, the clock I donated to the Church which hangs in the social hall.. Atomic as well.

I like those Atomic clocks

ME: (Back when I was working) THe official time clock is running a bit slow.
Co-worker: Compaired to what
Me: My watch
Him: And what did you set your watch to
Me: The clock at the other end of the hall
Him: And who set that
ME: the National Bureau of Standards, it's an "Atomic" clock set by radio control from WWV.
Him: ... (silence).

Yeah and I am up already this morning. My atomic clock in my head forgot to change! You would think someone (surely there is one) in Congress could come up with a bill to change all of this one way or the other for once and all.

I had a nice wake up this morning, with the, um, "inconsiderate" to say the least, guy in the next site idling his DP for a 1/2 hour at the "new" 5:30 am. I finally got so fed up I got out of bed, and ask him to shut it off. His reply was, "I'm pulling out (um, no kidding) and at least you get an extra hour of sleep this morning".......

Here in Utah and other states with a large outdoor tourism industry, there are lots of folks who like daylight savings time. Yes, I know the number of hours of daylight stays the same, but most tourists just don't like the idea of starting when the clock says it is early. They prefer starting their day at 8 or 9, and daylight savings time gives them a longer day. I always preferred DST when working too. My employer wasn't going to change my work hours, but at least I go more hours of daylight after work to do my outdoor activities.

I'm for DST year around. Standard time sucks. I don't need daylight at 3 AM in the morning during the summer when I am trying to sleep and dark at 5 PM in the winter when I could have another hour of daylight.

It makes as much sense as selling gas for $1.98.9 cents a gallon.

djbmsu....
I worked for an older man some years back who had a small store. One day I noticed that everything in the store ended in 9 cents. IE .59 .79 .99. So I asked him why, wouldn't it be easier to make change not having to give pennies in change. He told me the 9 cents was institution tax. So of course I said what the heck is that? He informed me that he took that 9 cents on every item and put it in a savings account so that when he got old enough he would have enough money so he would not have to go to an institution. Maybe that's where the .9 cent goes at the gas station ????
