Daylight Saving Time

The idea is that by shifting the clock forward one hour in the summer we use less electricity because the sun is up later and we don't have to turn on lights.

I don't think it is very effective, especially with the advent of florescent and LED lighting. I think the lost productivity due to the two shifts exceeds any energy saving.

Some notes:

1. We are not the only country to do it. Many other countries do.
2. It is Daylight Saving Time. There is no 's' on Saving.

There was an old Indian saying, And I'll probably get it wrong.
"Only the government would believe that you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket, sew it on the bottom, and get a longer blanket."
