Last time you tried that we came down, held a party and the bbq set the White House on fire. Oh wait, that is WHY it is the White House, you whitewashed it to cover the scorch marks.
Seriously, that is a good analogy to all governments and large corporations world wide, nobody is suggesting the U.S. or anyone else has a monopoly. Some of us need to lighten up and see the humour in it.

The pig war was on San Juan island, in NW Wasington, Vancover Isl, BC.
there is still a "English Camp" there.

as i recall the story, not a shot was fired, except the one that killed the pig.

If and when you'all get to Fort Michilimackinac (pronounced mack in naw) ((not mac in knack)) please look for this plaque. Looks to me like you'all just gave up the fort.

Yup, that's why we had a weenie roast and a huge party. Eventually we got bored and went home.

Attention Canadians!

This is the troublemaker that started this little skirmish!
My friend Possum and I, Neighbors across The Straits of Juan De Fuca, have settled our differences.
Peace reigns again above and below the Washington/Canada Border!
But there's trouble elsewhere, and Your Countryman Possum once again needs your support!

Dennis and Denise, AKA "Possum", were kind enough to post a very nice and complimentary
Tribute to Steve Jobs and The American System that made his success possible.
See:The American Dream is Far From Dead
In return, they've been faced with a flood of American Whinery.
I've apologized to them in behalf of My Country, but I think that the presence in the thread of a few of their Fellows might have a salutary effect on the rabble...

After the dust has settled on that one, everybody meet up back here and I'll tell the story of My Favorite War:
That time some of your folks from the Northern Islands declared war on the U.S., sought out and killed a single Government official, declared victory, and went home!

Your Neighbor,

Francesca

Speaking of the San Juans and all those other little Islands, when one diplomat was stuck on, I believe, James Island he got so bored her wrote the Robert's Rules of Order. So be wary of sticking Canajuns in boring places.

I would like to remind some of those from Canadia of a few reasons that we haven't absorbed you and Mexico to become the United North American States.
We don't want Mexico, it would cost too much to clean it up to make it liveable.
And as for Canadia, it's just too big, too cold, and we don't particularly like hockey, eh. And besides, we put a secret code into all the military ships and planes we sell you, so we can turn them off if you get too frisky, eh. Like Capt. Kirk did in 'Wrath of Kahn'.

Just kidding, eh.

'Course there's also the little matter of the "kicking and screaming factor", as in:
No Canadian would ALLOW us to "absorb Canada" unless he/she was dragged kicking and screaming...and donkeys were flying...and Hell froze over...
You get the picture!

That's why we became a country in the first
place.
