Dentist referrals (or warnings!) in Algodones

Hi,
We've heard a lot about getting dental work done in Algodones and I read some older posts here about that. I'm wondering if anyone can give me recent updates on a great dentist for getting teeth pulled and getting dentures (scary enough for me!). Or any dental offices to avoid. If you'd rather PM me, that's great too. Thanks for your help!

I use DDS Jorge Sanchez @ Art of Dentristry. USA phone #928-517-3517. Several of my buddies recommended him and Iíve gone to him 3 winters now. Heís on Ave B between Zaratoga and 2nd Street, unit 3. Basically when you walk in get on the left sidewalk, go to second intersection and turn left. Heís on the right back off the street. Do NOT use the female Dentist on the right by the purple pharmacy. Iíve heard many bad reports but canít remember the name. PM if you need more.

[Moderator Edit] Disclaimer I am a dentist, years ago barbers also practiced dentistry. In Mexico a dental degree takes at the most 2 years (post high school). Dental materials are not regulated ( ie led in porcelain) there is no recourse for substandard care etc... Dental care is not inexpensive but are you willing to risk your life/ health to save a few $$? Do some research on the cost of corrective surgery for substandard dental care.

I totally agree, one other thing the outsourcing to Mexico, China labs has gone big time so ask your dentist where his work comes from and are they sure it’s made in the USA.

Lots of people going to Algodones for dental work and lots of happy people.

Had a couple crowns put in and the work was inspected by my dentist at home. He was obviously not pleased he had not done the work (1800 per crown) but said the work that was done (400 per crown) was as good as he would have done.

I found the Mexican dentists are better at pain management and stand behind their work.

I am sure there are horror stories from both sides of the border. After all half of the dentists that graduate are below average - in the bottom half of their class.

Dental work here in the states has become practically unavailable to poor folks. The cost have gone through the roof. Here in the Land of 10,000 Taxes the dentists actually advertise, Financing Available.

I have not gone to Mexico yet, but am thinking about it. Too old to mortgage my home for dental work.

If you are interested you should take the winter and head down to Yuma. If you stay in any of the RV parks there will be lots of folks who have used various dentists and will have referrals to their favorite.

Talk to get an idea of who you want to consider and go to the office to check it out. Talk to your "preferred" office and get a feeling for how you feel and what they are proposing to do as well as the cost.

Be prepared to have service very quickly. If they get you into the chair they will try to start working on you. Take cash, using a credit card will cause all kinds of extra charges as the banks play their service fee charge game.

Dentist referrals (or warnings!) in Algodones

I highly recommend Dr Abdul Iniguez.
Schooled in Loma Linda, Ca, US. Fully certified. Amazing staff! Has his own lab!!!!

My US dentist wanted $20K just to start. I donít make make boat payments for US dentists anymore!
I paid $5600 in Los Algodones 5 years ago. Still perfect!
Used my credit card, no extra fees at all. But I give cudos to my Credit Union for that.

Visa has an "Out of Country" charge of 1.5% although the transaction is in US dollars.

Agree!
My $5600 ended up at $5684. I checked my account. Sorry for the confusion.
However, they do accept checks with no fee.
Also, I wonít carry that much cash into Mexico.
