Dentures and/or Implants

Hi, since i lost my teeth (only two molars left) in my accident i have been trying to decide on dentures or implants. Well at first i waited because i thought that medicare would at least help me pay for them, but they wont.

So today i called clear choice inplants (from tv - the one with the fireman) as they have a location in dallas about 50 miles from me. Well the call was pretty short, they were nice and everything but wow i was told that it starts at around $58,000 for the implants... That is wayyyyy too much for me.... so i am still shopping around.

I dont know if i can even get either because i may have waited too long and may have lost too much bone to use anything anymore. I can eat pretty much anything other than steak. But i can eat country fried steak if its tender enough.

Any suggestions from your experiences or recomendations for good affordable product?

Thanks

Any dental schools near you? My parents went to one in Philadelphia for all their work. If you don't mind someone learning with pro teaching, maybe something to look into.

Check out the postings about Mexico Dentists, or make your own post about getting dental work in Mexico.

Mexico is great for dental work. Most people I knew in San Diego always crossed the border for Good care at reasonable prices.

I would definitely shop around a bit. I was recently in my dentists office and saw how they do an entire permanent upper or lower jaw of teeth (denture I guess) with 4 implants each. No idea on the costs but definitely worth checking out. Keep researching.. if your are interested in the implant dentist I use, just PM me.

Yup, implants are expen$ive. I have two front teeth and both side on the upper )4 on each side), boy was it worth every penny of the 40K. i saved for 10 years in order to avoid dentures. I also had a broken jaw earlier in life and it had not healed properly, it took 3 years of surgeries and weekly visits to the dentist but that was 10 years ago. Boy did that steak taste good last night.

Most of the time, they can repack the gums with a material that builds up the bone lost and then put implants i.....
I had the tops done..4 years ago and in the process of doing the bottoms now...takes from 9 months to a year to complete it all
Wife had hers done 4 years ago...top and bottom.....half way through the process, she said ..You know,I really need and want a new car...So I brought her to a mirror and said....smile,hope you wanted your new car in Pearl....lol....and this was the truth,so in a bit,we are at the dentist office for a final adjustment..I go first, only have the uppers to adjust and I tell the dentist about the car...so when she gets in there,he tells her he has to take the bottoms out to adjust it.....and said to her....nothing more than a flat tire to your new car.....lol..needless to say...she didn't see the humor

Unless I hit the PowerBall or Mega Millions ----NO implants in my future ever.
Ridiculous costs and TIME.

$399 dentures will be my replacement.
Course with costs of 'simple extractions' at $200/each those 'affordable dentures' will not be happening anytime soon.

When I was working soul we had a fixed crew one of which had no teeth.
Worked rotating shifts.......so when weekend day shift came around we would have a shift feed. Slaps of thick steaks, baked potatoes, corn on cob, pie etc.
Asked 'John' do you want us to pickup some ground beef or something else vs steak
His reply...HECK NO. By the time I get thru gumming that steak I will have extracted ALL of the flavor you guys miss.

With the security presence in Los Algodones, you are safer there than in any US city.
Implants are $180 per, or about $5800 for all 32.
The dentists are all trained at Lomalinda CA dental

I have friends that go to Los Algodones and have dental work done. All happy and save a bundle.
Happy Glamping.

I can't speak to where to get implants done, but I can speak to how much I love them. I too lost all but 2 teeth. It took a couple years from beginning to end. It took that long due to cost. During the process I had dentures and was not happy. Now that I am done and I have become used to having the implants... I LOVE THEM. Worth every cent and was able to deduct the cost on my taxes.
