Did you know...where "Frequency Hopping" comes from?

Did you?

The frequency-hopping spread-spectrum invention was patented by Hedwig Kiesler and her partner. That is the technology for present day LTE Cell Phone hoping.

Who is Hedwig Kiesler? Who no other than Hedy Lamarr, movie actress.
(Now if you don't know who Hedy Lamarr was, you are just a young whippersnapper.)

I'll leave you to your own devise to search on the information. You may try Wikipedia, or just Google "Hedwig Kiesler."

Happy trails.

"Frequency Hoping" is an appropriate label, I often find myself 'hoping' I'll find a signal to make a call. --- and that's on Verizon, not AT&T.

It's the technology that is interesting, not the service that a service company cannot provide.

And more interesting is that Hedy Lamarr invented it.

Wonder what in her background caused her interest and capability in that direction?

Did some Internet searching - very interesting:

Gary,

I read that she was a math protegee. Her dealings with the German regime during that time lead her to the "brain wave" for the idea.

Wikipedia calls her, "mathematically talented."

Interesting that a player piano model was the instrument to change the frequencies.

Female Inventors: Hedy Lamarr
After reading that article, it read like her co-inventor was actually the brains behind the final product developed from her basic idea. They continued their frequency-hopping idea from his previous work coordinating 16 player pianos. She was obviously a gifted mathematician.
Very interesting Wayne, thanks.

We can discuss this after dinner and of course around the campfire.

Did I mention beans for dinner?
