tomgagne,BudtheDiplomat, Couldn't agree more!
We helped create the problem over there, now we're killing our own to solve it! It's long past time that we wash our hands of the whole affair, those people deserve what they get and it's not goingto change,,,,hasn't over thousands of years......

We, the U.S., are slowly but surely are turning into Europe. They live in fear of Muslims. But, like us, are afraid to say anything that may be considered offensive.

How did we get in this situation ?

By good people not speaking up. By doing what is "politically correct" and not what is actually correct. By being too tolerant. By not taking responsibility. Too many "By's", not enough "do's."

We have the weakest people in the highest office I've ever seen. This soldier has been the service 8 years, working on his 4th tour in a combat zone, has to walk around on a base where AFGHAN soldiers shoots American soldiers. I've been in his shoes (24 years). The American people need to stand up for our soldiers. Not saying what he did was right/wrong. He, his family and all of our soldiers, sailors, marines and air force needs our prayer and support. We need to our soldiers out of these places. If we not willing to fight a war and WIN, don't waste our soldiers lives.

I've made a total of 5 deployments to that region over a 24 year period.
I can say that they will not be understood through western eyes.
I think that containment is about what we can expect.
I will however submit that allowing the Dr. to sit on the backburner could well be viewed or at least spun into a victory by our oposition using their alternate and child like logic (it is what it is because it is no further explanation needed. and only what others do to us matters we are justified because we just are and just don't make the boss mad.)
At this time we must do things our way and handle both of these issues.

I think it was just not enough Good people standing up. there were some and the ones that got notcied were told they were not "patriotic Americans" and labeled unamerican if you asked questions.
In the end we were just plain lied to.

Russia went to Afghanistan, fought a war, lost. They went home in dishonor to their own people who treated their involvement like our troops were welcomed home in Vietnam war. The war continued on and on, now its the Americans who go over and take over the exact spot Russia did. The war still continues. If we leave, the war will still be there. Whose next to tackle this? Our jailed serviceman is also having a history of some violent actions prior to joining service. He may have taken some of it with him on assignments. The investigation continues on his case.

There are lots of opinions in this thread, most of them off topic, but not much in the way of facts or even thoughtful responses on such a sensitive issue. Topics like this, however, bring out the ideological opportunist who jump on the chance to say something that the [Moderator Edit] will say "thumbs up"...

And similarly... iRV2 members have been on opposing sides of these sorts of debates for years and for this reason political discussions are prohibited here. To that end, this thread has been closed.

We are an RV'ing community - let's focus on RV'ing issues and try to get along
