Great answer!...I think the HD might have a problem on the MX tracks that I ride on though...

I quit the street years ago when I realized that my leathers and helmet are no match for 6000 lbs of SUV piloted by a "cell phone yapping, latte drinking, moron" paying no attention to their surroundings than the man-in-the-moon.

Me too. Dual sports for us, 90% off road, 10% on. A Harley on a steep, rocky fire road would be down in a flash.

Our current ride is an 06 Goldwing with a Hannigan TriCar Conversion. We had the same set up on our 92 Wing. We have rode hacks for over 30 years so the wife can ride. She cannot set on a bike for more than a few minutes with getting great pain. I have been riding for over 50 years. First bike was Honda 175. Many over the years. Ride Safe!

Thumbs up

I've been riding for over 45 years now.
My first bike was a 1936 flathead 80 Harley that my uncle gave to me. I now have 3 Bikes.

1- The one pictured is my favorite, a chopper I built in 1999.
2- A Harley fatboy I built in 1996 with an S&S 113 motor
3- A 2002 road king I customized.

Ya all be safe now...

I have also had my fair share of bikes over the years. My road bikes were mostly Harley's until I got tired of waiting on a tow. Not wanting to start any heated discussion just my experience and bad luck over the years.

My current bike is a 1999 Yamaha Venture that I bought new and currently has 149000 miles on it. It has been across the entire US & into Canada many times. All of it riding 2 up and pulling a Bustec trailer for all the shoes and stuff the wife wants along the way.

To date it has had the valves adjusted once, clutch plates and a new spring replaced about 5 years ago along with 2 batteries and a lot of tires and brake pads. I have always used Mobil Devlac synthetic diesel oil and she still purrs like a kitten.

98% of Harleys ever built are still on the road. The other 2% made it home!

1st Bike I bought new was a Honda 305 Dream around "63"
The next year I traded for a new Honda 450 when it came out.
Next bike was a "75" Kawasaki 900
Traded that in for a new "83" Yamaha Venture Royal
In "88" I put a side car on it.
In "89" bought another new Yamaha Venture Royal to have a 2 wheeler.
In "97" converted the 89 to a Motor Trike and sold the 83 bike.
In 2001 bought new a FXSTI HD
In 2007 sold the Trike
In March 2011 gave the FXSTI to my Son
Only put 300 miles on it the last 2 years. Just not worth the plate, Insurance cost. And the cleaning the chrome was getting to much.

Before buying our toy hauler, my wife and I would ride everywhere and put 20k miles on our BMW R1150RT in a single season. With the toy hauler we get to ride all over.

Now we have a BMW K1300GT and a Triumph America. At this moment we're sitting at a campsite in Jersey with the Triumph in the back just waiting for morning. Next week I pack the GT and two of my friends bikes and head into the smokey mountains for a week.

"Eagle Command, Peacekeeper6. Request permission to commence bomb run"

or

"Work to ride, ride to work".

(Yup, my g/f took this pic of me on my current Hawg during my commute to work).
