I’ve never been to concerned about a return wave . I know I wave .
We have a guy in the campground we are at for the summer who we see often while walking our dog . I always say hi, wave , or nod my head , he has never replied .
I continue to do it anyway , I think I’m annoying him now . Kinda hoping so anyway

We nod! Subtle tilt of the head. Surprising how many others move their heads in return. Lotsa nice folks out there.

In reality, like some others, our concentration is on the traffic. We save our hellos for the campgrounds and the gas stations.

I do 95% of the time, never get much return but guess most people have their eyes more on the road ! I consider it a camaraderie of sorts !

Good, glad to see Im not the only one who thinks this. Just like bikes, we are all like minded to some extent, and are sharing a similar experience that 99 percent of the population will never do. Cheers.

I wave, but I don't think other drivers do it much. If they do I can't see them do it. I believe that on 2 lane roads most people are looking at the road and not an approaching RV.

As much as I would like to wave, if I'm on a 2 lane road and another RV is going the opposite direction, I prefer to keep both hands on the wheel. Especially when I think about how close two coaches going opposite directions are to each other. I will nod my head, and my DW co pilot will always wave to the co pilot of the approaching RV.

2 way roads with oncoming fellow class A motorhomes. They always seem to wave, and wave back.
Travel trailers and class C's, not so much.

Redneck rules for acknowledging on-coming drivers.
(1) Don't remove hand from steering wheel, use the finger method of recognition.
(2) Raise ONE finger only if you don't know the person approaching.
(3) Raise TWO fingers if you think you know them, but ain't sure.
(4) Raise THREE fingers if you're related ( covers most of the folks in the County).
(5) Raise FOUR fingers if they have a dog, or a occupied lawn chair in the bed of the pickup. ( The're on the way to Aunt Myrtle's for dinner).
(6) The only reason to take you're hand off the steering wheel is to either throw the Bud Lite can in the back, or signal Bubba that his left rear tire is low.

Yes on two lanes. I don't really take hand completely off the wheel just raise all fingers. Kind of like wishing them well/safe travels to me.

We are in a class "C". I always wave if safe and experience more wave returns from Class "C"s

Cheers
