I have the equiv of a Masters in Civil Engineering and an AA in Computer Managed Information Systems. Been working a, now, part time job as security in a retirement center at min. wage. That's a far cry from the over $70,000 a year I used to earn. But it's a job. Just doesn't put steak and lobster on the table though.

The Wal*Mart greeters make as much as I do although I think my job is easier, but no benefits either. In fact if I took the family medical through work I'd have to pay over $1,200 a month and that's more than I make!

I have been without a full time job with benefits since October 2008. After 4 years of looking for a job with some benefits I have found one. As far as I'm concern I can still keep looking for a full time job with benefits.
I was 42 when I was laid off now I'm 46. Since October 2008 I have worked 8 different part time jobs. Nobody is forcing anyone to shop at Wal-Mart or for that matter any other store. It's a choice we all make.
Thank you for starting this thread. Glad to see you're working. We agree that there is no need for another Walmart bashing thread and therefore , this thread is closed.
