Does this ever happen to you

We have been full timing for 25 years, and sometimes I wake in the morning and I have no idea where I am. I lay there for a couple of minutes and listen for sounds before I can figure out where I am. LOL

Yeah, me too. Especially when we're on a multi-stop trip, spending only 3-4 nights at each place. Sometimes I don't even recognize I'm in the coach, let alone where I'm at.

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

Happens all the time.

Often, when inside a WalMart store, (they all are laid out basically the same," I think: "I know I am in WalMart, but what TOWN am I in?"

Sometimes in the camping season, I'll wake up in the night and need to go p. I'll lay there a couple of minutes until I think I am alert enough to make it to the bathroom without falling asleep on the way. I crawl out of bed in that awkward, contorted way you only need to do in an RV. In a fog, I feel both sides of the wall to guide me in the right direction. Do my business in the bathroom and try and flush the toilet with my foot and then it's - ah shoot man, I'm actually back home....

It's only after a few days after being back home when I wake up in the night, that I try and outsmart my own brain and pause for a moment to actually register with enough clarity where I truly am. It's a great feeling when you've out-foxed your own brain.

What you are experiencing is not just for those who full time. I teach taxation seminars all over the US and there are many times I'll wake up in the night and have no idea where I am other than being in a hotel in some city. Once I heard a dog bark in the middle of the night and I got out of bed to take my dog out and then I realized I was in a hotel and it was someone else's dog that was barking.

We tend to be creatures of habit and habitat. When we change the habitat it is hard to change the habit.

In my previous life I traveled at lot, so this would happen to me with some regularity. Now, not so much ...but we're still new at this.
