But being prepared for a Hurricane Sandy? You bet! Notice that after several weeks, they haven't had widespread looting, raping and cannibalism? Have more faith in your fellow man in holding society together...............
I don't know, I think it's human nature to survive whatever the cost and I have to retain my belief that you wouldn't just give up. And WRT Sandy, it's way worse than we've seen on TV. I'm not aware of any raping or cannibalism, but there was some looting over Thanksgiving. Lots of people did have to stay close to and protect their belongings and many still don't have power. Many are surviving because of beneficent(sp) people or relatives, etc.

As bad as Sandy is, what I was referring to in my earlier post was more of a nationwide or even global disaster, man-made or otherwise. I know there are many more good people than bad who will be willing to help their fellow man during disasters like Sandy, just as there were during Katrina. But, if it really, really gets bad and you need to start stealing to feed your family, I can't help but think those who are better prepared stand a better chance of surviving. But then again, that zombie apocolypse thing sounds REAL scary.

SO, SOME are preparing - the WORSE that can happen to them, is that they will have provided extra food and lodging that is very usable - but maybe unneeded (sorta like that RV?)

BUT, if some of us are RIGHT, we'll be all cozy INSIDE the Ark, while the "smart and educated folks" OUTSIDE in the rain and rising waters of anarchy, are pounding on the doors wanting INTO the very shelter they so smugly and humorously ridiculed so short a time before!

But too late!

.

I too have watched those Doomsdays Reality TV Shows that make people look like wing nuts. I believe many take prepping to the extreme. But as Gary – K7GLD insinuated, many people have their heads buried in the sand with the world events that are happening all around them and are living in “DENIAL”.

However,

It always amuses (and saddens) me that most people think nothing of buying insurance via the paper system (ie. health/auto/house/life), but when it comes to simple every day disaster preparedness very few ever stop to consider picking up a generator, a spare can of gasoline, or a few extra cans of food.

After all, it wasn’t raining when Noah was building the Ark.

A couple of years ago I took this photo of JFK's bunker on Nantucket Island: More photos & information at JFK Bunker, although they are wrong about the location - it is not on Cuttyhunk Island, but at the Tom Nevers Naval Facility on Nantucket Island.

Great pictures! I live in inner city so getting OUT would be TOP priority. I tell the kids our problems would be more weather related. Tornado,Ice storm or some fool hitting power pole. Basement first then RV if it survives damage. Beyond that the folks in area think we are CRAZY Rednecks so looting would not be a big concern.

I've visited this one at Peanut Island Fl. , a short distance from his Palm Beach compound.

That reminds me...
How about the bunker Hitler's followers built for him in Los Angeles back in the 1930's?

I think it got torn down recently, though...guess they got tired of waiting!

Do zombies eat? I thought they just wandered the Earth looking to zombify normal human beings...

Or am I thinking of Advertising Executives?
