Doorways

"Ever walk into a room with some purpose in mind, only to completely forget
what that purpose was? Turns out, the doorways themselves are to blame for these strange memory lapses.

Psychologists at the University of Notre Dame have discovered that passing
through a doorway triggers what's known as an 'event boundary' in the
mind, separating one set of thoughts and memories from the next. Your
brain files away the thoughts you had in the previous room and prepares a
blank slate for the new locale. So. it's not aging, it's the door!"

Thank goodness for studies like this.

Dang! Now I fully understand why I forgot the quart of milk or the loaf of bread. Not my fault there is a doorway on the MH.

Seriously? And here I thought I was just getting old and forgetful...

Hmmm - wonder why my "younger" brain didn't know that? Or are doorways evolving? Scary thought!

My DW, has suffered from this condition for years , exiting the house, she forgets her shopping list, entering the store she forgets everything that was on it; then has to wander ever isle in the store.
Then says " You never want to go shopping with me ! "
5X faster for me to grab the list and go to the store alone.

Got to go . Time to change my , user name and access codes.

EVENT BOUNDARY. Yes and if you leave a room, forget what you were thinking about, just turn around and go back into the other room and often, it pops right back into your head.

I'm so glad that I have something to blame it on. Now, to convince my wife it's the doorways fault.

I usually walk down a flight of stairs then back up just to remember why I went down for in the first place.

Event boundaries----Another strange thing about doorways. Has anyone else noticed that ladies always gather in doorways to gab... Maybe women actually remember things as they are in the "event boundary".... Or maybe it's just to keep men from coming though cause they know we are going to forget...
Thanks alot Wayne.. now I'm going to walk through a doorway and start over

The DW's , slow pace in the store , probably would not bother me as much if she hadn't been a such quick shopper when she worked.
Used to be she could get in and out of Costco in under 15 mins.
Regular grocery store 10 at the most.
I guess , younger and in a hurry to get things done; now it's " Recreational shopping." Too much for me .

Now I know why I often walk into the bathroom and wonder what did I come in here for.
