Dow Down 1100 point today

If you are living off your investments it has been a rough 2 days. I'm just going to ride it out. Nothing really happening other than fear.

This is no surprise to me. Anyone could see this coming. And I don't think we're done yet. The important thing to do is not panic.
What goes up, must come down. What goes down, eventually goes back up.

Points? Pht!
It's percentage that matters.
The news always want to make it a dire straight. It isn't. Yet

I look at it in a bit longer view. Still got a long way to go to start erasing the gains over the past 12 months. I'm down 1.5% for the month but up 38.5 % for the past 12. Ride it out, we were due for a correction.

The NAVs on a lot of my bond CEFs has hardly changed in the last month. Just keep those 9% divs coming - I don't care about the price.

I just happened to talk with our financial planner today about what's going on.

I like no stress so I rarely look at statements but I was kind off aware about how things were growing nicely.

She said the drop was expected and while I would be down this month I was still way up from this time last year.

I told her to just give me a call when it was time to jump out a window.

That's the way I look at it. In total, I'm up just shy of 30% Jan 2017-Jan 2018 & 62% over my portfolio's all time low in Feb 2009. In it for the long haul.

I have jumped out and in 7 times including 1987.
The true gains were from out/in at the right moments.

During market corrections, I don't look at my account. I only look at the balance on up days. I call it the ostrich plan.

History repeats itself again. After a long steady growth we will have a year of up/down markets and then a big October Black Friday. I still won't change anything in my investment, just ride the roller coaster.
