In what I have seen of this guy on the news, he presents himself as a smug, arrogant individual and if a jury sees the same, it bodes not well for him. Maybe the State has a rabit in their hat to pull out and save the case. Juries are strange creatures and hard to read sometimes. But until the court says he is guilty, he is innocent. Our legal system is far from being perfect but for the most part it is the best around. I dealt with the courts for over 34 years as a law enforcement officer and most of the time "a jury of your peers" was hardly ever the way it was.
you're right.

the time to get him was when he drowned his second to the last wife in their bathtub. but they cops let a fellow cop walk for that....

this time, if they don't find a body, they got nuttin.

as for smug arrogant individuals.... well he is a cop isn't he?
The jury will never see that, they will not hear a WORD from him in court, guaranteed.

Yes he was a police officer and that alone does does not make him smug and arrogant any more than the fact that many citizens are a-holes. And I doubt, based on the current evidence, that he will testify and give the State a free shot at him.

Now if we can get Nancy Grace to chime in then all the cop haters can convict him, who needs a jury when we have all you fine citizens, nothing like a open mind, or in some cases a empty 1. for the record I am
not a police officer nor have I ever been, but I do call some of them friends, just not right to lump all as one, good and bad in all professions

This Wikipedia article is interesting, especially the part about his law enforcement career.

Peterson is a jerk and probably a murderer as well. But with a statement like that above I can only say,
The next time you need help call a crack addict and see how much help you get.

Being a neighbor of your state...I fully understand. Even easier to understand knowing what your state sent to the white house 4 yrs ago along with Blago and your other elected officials that are in the gray bar hotel...lol

Guess we know what Jim thinks of police officers. Even a smart fella like you knows that prosecutors make the decision to prosecute..not the police.....But you knew that didn`t you Jim

There is only one thing for certain about what a jury will do. That is there is nothing certain about what a jury will do.

Only problem is, Illinois hasn't got Zillions, or even millions for that matter. This state is broke!
Get ready for another state income tax hike.

And there it is -- didn't take too long. Haters got to keep on hatin'.

Sad that some people will use any topic as an excuse to trot out their politics.

I took it as "the facts" rather than a political statement. I agree that most cops are not smug but when you get one like peterson(who has that cheshire cat grin) then it reflects badly on the ones that try to do their jobs, and we remember the ones that believe in the true blue code, no matter what.

Sorry, I did have him confused with another killer.

He likely feels smug because as a cop he thinks that he knows how to hide the facts from his fellow cops.. Perhaps, Perhaps not. but Karma can be a real female canine and she can turn on you in the blink of an eye and bite your behind big time.

There is only one perfect crime.. That is the one that never happens.
