Drinking and Driving

With the Holidays upon us I would like to share a personal experience with my friends about drinking and driving.

As you may know some of us have been known to have brushes with the authorities from time to time on the way home after a "social session" out with friends.

Well, two days ago I was out for an evening with friends and had several beers followed by some rather nice red wine.

Feeling jolly, I still had the sense to know that I may be slightly over the limit.

That's when I did something that I've never done before - I took a cab home.

Sure enough on the way home there was a police road block, but since it was a cab they waved it past. I arrived home safely without incident.

This was a real surprise as I had never driven a cab before, I don't know where I got it and now that it's in my garage I don't know what to do with it.

WAY BETTER safe than sorry!!! ANYTIME the wife and I decide we both want to drink, we either take a cab there and back or we hire a town car, which costs the same as a cab but looks nicer ,,..... and when we go out, we make a NIGHT of it.

It's cheap compared to making a bad mistake, and I don't know about you, but I have too much to lose! Not worth it.

Humor noted, but on the serious side, don't drink and drive. The life you save may be mine.

This was humor folks. No one is advocating drinking and driving.

Some people take a cab, some a limo. Me, being on the cheap side, I take the bus. Only problem is finding a place to park it when I get home

A customer told me some family members were headed to the hotel after Grey Cup festivities in Regina. They hailed a cab that already had two passengers and were taken for the ride of their lives. When they dared to ask what was going on were told "Aww, we don't care we stole it." Cost them 20 bucks to get dropped off, the thieves probably spent that on beer.

Well, I do drink and drive..... I'm a coffee-hoiic.

(Can not stand the taste of alcohol, so I avoid it like plague)

I got to admit, the end was funny.. But drunk driving is no joke, I spent 25 years as a police dispatcher. I have had to type a message that starts out with "Reference fatal accident 29-xxxx-yr far too many times (29 was the post number) and have lost friends to drunk drivers.

Still, the ending was funny.

I recall back when they were trying to convince me that Marajuana was no more dangerous than Alcohol.

Well... Global Thermonuclear war... That is more dangerous than Alcohol.. At least I think it is... I do not know of anything else that is though.

My 26 y/o daughter was killed by a drunk the night of Dec 22nd 1993 while driving home from work.

The pain is real and forever.

Everyone out there is loved by someone, don't drink and drive...ever.
