Fluteman - I play an Indian flute as well. I bought it from a craftsman at the Denver Indian Arts Festival in 2005. It's so relaxing to get out in the middle of nowhere and play . . . or to just play in the RV to relax. I play by ear so I've bought several wonderful CD's to learn melodies from. I know it's not proper for a woman to play the flute in the American Indian culture, so I'm respectful not to play it in public. I've been attending drum circles since 2002. Where have you attended Pow Wow's? I guess I need to do some research online to see if there are any coming up in Nevada, New Mexico or Arizona while I'm in that area for the winter. I know there was a Pow Wow in New Mexico in August or earlier this month . . . Have you heard of the group Brule'? It's a Lakota family from Lower Brule, SD. I love their music. The daughter, Nicole, plays a concert flute out of respect for the tradition of women not playing the Indian flute and does a beautiful job. Thanks for responding!
