Dumb

Just got my present MH in Phoenix about 2 months ago. First W24 and first Fleetwood. Thought I had it all figured out, but after 800 miles, I found out I was running in 5th gear instead of 6th! No wonder my mpg was in the toilet :

Better 800 than 8000.

OK - I will show my stupidity. How do you know? Is it a manual tranny and you just didn't find the 6th gear? I have not driven a stick for many years due to bad knees but my current MH just has D with no indication (except your hearing it of course) changing gears. My former F-250 diesel was a 6 speed automatic and all six gears showed on the info board as they were shifting. So I did not use tow/haul unless it was needed (constant shifting between 5th and 6th).

I don't think my Minnie Winnie 31kp has any tow/haul or indication of gears.

Allison 6 sp automatic. It has a 3 position "OD Off" switch. In the center position the light goes off, so I assumed it was the normal position. I eventually went through the 20 digital display option and found one that displayed the gears. Then played with the OD switch again. I actually wasn't sure until the I had the 6 so Allison.
