DW?

Hi everybody

I have seen many people use the abbreviation DW. What exactly does that stand for? Anyone know?

Sample usage: My DW doesnt know what is making that noise.

Thanks.

DW = darling wife for one. DH (darling husband) from DW standpoint can mean something different depending on what I do.....

People are abbreviating things. The "W" usually stands for wife and the "D" can stand for a whole host of things. You will also see "DH", the "H" might stand for husband while again the "D" can stand for lots of things. For myself I just type Thom's name if I want to say something about him or something he said or did. Not everyone knows what the abbreviations mean so I just try not to use them anymore.

I don't have a "DW" My guess is; I could use "DI" = Dear inamorata Or "DG" = girlfriend. but then at 61 it does not sound right . then I could use "DC" = companion. but then If I am talking about an electrical problem on the TT it might get a little confusing. "DF" = friend. well that could be a problem in interpreting. I will be old fashion I guess and just call her by name.

There are several acornyms already for you

POSSLQ was really popular in the '70s: Persons of Opposite Sex Sharing Living Quarters

SO is the current version: Significant Other

SO is a great term. It's gender neutral, doesn't make assumptions about living conditions, etc but does clearly call out an important relationship with the person.

In the 1800's it was DM (Darling Mistress), now that I think about it, that may be more current than the 1800's...
