JKN,
The way it was explained to me, you can translate the (D) anyway you want, but the (W) is wife. I like to think of the (D) as meaning dear. I'm sure you get the drift.....

Darling wife, dang wife, dear wife, deaf wife, dumb wife, whatever applies at the moment, and depending on whether she's listening!

Darling wife, deranged woman, demented wombat, dictatorial warden and I'm sure there are others. As has been stated, it depends on the time and place and circumstances.

I hope that whoever posted anything but Dear/Darling Wife does not allow said DW to read their posts.
Check to see if the dog will share it's bed. Otherwise, seems like a formula for restless sleeping with at least one eye open. LOL

Joe - Not only does she have excellent hearing but I suspect she has eyes in the back of her head. Ask your children.

I don't have to ask my children, I know first hand!

Thanks all. I never thought of any of those. I will go with dear wife and dear husband. I would suspect that anyone who has chosen this lifestyle whether full time or part time really likes their spouse. It is easy to love someone in a 3 bedroom 1500+ square foot home. In an RV "likeing" them counts a lot too. I love this lifestyle and my DH is a patient and likable man. I hope he thinks the same if me.

Being of the military community, DW means Dependent Wife. Not depending on me for everything, but my dependent, as were my dependent children.
pop-sicle, you got me beat by 2 years.

My husband is a USAF retired vet. When he came in I was a "dependent wife" but that term is no longer used, it is now "spouse." It's all about the new PC environment we live in today. Personally, I have no problem with the old term.
Tank, I think we are tied with you. We hit 40 last Sunday.
