Wow, that stinks. Hope he recovers quickly. I don't think he was going to win the championship, but was hoping for top 5. The most important thing is for him to get well.

Dog gone shame... We would both like to see Dale Jr win a championship,, although we don't follow Nascar as close as we used to... That's how DW and I met,, 12 yrs ago,, talking on line about Nascar... Went to the TX race 2000-2004.. A great time,,

It wasn't that long ago that this wasn't a medical decision.

Just look at the NFL regarding concussions.

Dale Jr can thank Tony Stewart's ignorant blocking tactic for ruining his chances.

LOL-didn't Tony say last year at Sonoma when he and Vickers got into it that he was SICK AND TIRED of people trying to block? And he was going to wreck anybody he see's blocking. Musta had a brainf*rt last week.

Given that this will take Jr. out of any championship hunt this year, I think that he should just do ALL that he can to heal and just sit out the final six races of the year. I mean, he had lingering effects from the concussion 5 weeks prior to the wreck at Talladega, and they're saying 2 weeks out and possibly back in the car??

I know it will be bad for NASCAR, bad for Jr's Sponsors, bad for Jr Nation - but let's give the guy a chance to get as well as he can. There is no chance he's gonna' win the Nextel Cup this year, so why get back in and be a lame duck for the last couple of races?

Take stock in how well he and his team ran this year, be a spectator for the rest of the year, get as healthy as possible and come back gangbusters in Daytona.

Jr or not - his long term health and well being are more important than finishing out a few races at the end of this year, and to his credit, I believe that he felt that as well. Kudos to Jr for taking the initiative to go see Dr Petty.

I was listening to Rusty Wallace on the pre-race show for the Nationwide Race tonight and he said a couple of things:

1. If Jr was in the thick of the Championship, he probably would have stuck it out and raced - to an extent I think that might be true, but we will never know.

2. Rusty said that he got into a crash at Daytona years ago and it effected him for *15* years - he was *fine* while driving, but when he took a shower and shook his head to shake the water off his head, he would get dizzy. Really Rusty?? ... and the hits and G Forces in the car never bothered you?

Armchair Crew Chief Out ....

Agreed ... at least Tony took responsibility for it and didn't blame someone else.

Too bad for Michael Waltrip - he was motoring his way forward and likely would have won that race.

Did you hear the part where someone in the Kurt Busch camp said:

Getting Kurt out of the 51 was like owning a boat. You're happy when you get it and even more happy when you get rid of it

or something to that effect.

Kurt is a good driver, but like his brother, has anger issues.

While it is unfortunate for Jr. and Jr nation, I am glad that it gave the Dinger an opportunity to get back into a car for a couple weeks!
