Well, after things seemed to be settling down, we had a day from Hell as far earthquakes go. In the last 24 hours we have had over 45 aftershocks, and at least two of them were mid to high 4's on the scale. SWMBO is back downstairs again, sleeping on the couch, no major structural damage that we can see, but parts of the central city have been cordoned off again. We have started totting up our claim from the first shock, and in just crystal alone, we are up to $3500 worth lost. Still counting, will probably get to $5000 with the rest of our losses. No loss of life, and we are all OK.

Happy New Year to you all!

And again! Suspect we may have made the major news around the world this time, with a 6.3 quake near the centre of the city. Many deaths this time, at least 100, and major devastation. Our stick house is OK, power back on but sewerage suspect. The MH is again in use and what a relief it is to be lying in a comfy bed as the ground moves beneath us. We had a 7.1 shock in September, with over 4500 aftershocks, but already three of the top five shocks have come in the last 24 hours. Still, family and I are safe and sound, if a little "shaken". We are much better off than many others in the city.

It would seem that you are getting more than your share of earthquakes. We offer our support, at least verbally and hope the after shocks are within your ability to withstand.
Stay safe!

Graham: DW has corresponded with an internet friend in Christ Church for several years. The lady is also "quite shaken" by this latest quake and the after shocks. Her Dad's house is totally gone this time and she isn't sure her house is structurely sound. Got to be nerve-racking.
Know our prayers are with all of you. Stay safe...
