Building code in California requires metal straps wrapped around water heaters firmly attached to the wall, tied into the 2 X 4 framing.

You can now understand that after seeing how a house can move very fast.

We did experience and feel the earthquake in Anderson county sc. We feel a vibration, the plates rattled, but most of all the dog jumped off my dw's lap a second or two before we felt anything and barked.

That's what I call just a tremor. You should experience one of California's authentic earthquakes like the one in 1994 Northridge two months after moving there.

There was 45 seconds of what sounded like a locomotive engine rolling through the apartment that I was renting along with the pounding of the building. I had one had on my Tiffany lamp and the other hand on the dresser it was sitting on.

Southern CA is due and I am hoping that it waits until after April 2015 when we head for another summer in Alaska where they have more than California does along with Volcano's.
