It's about time the long arm of the law catches up with these sleaze bags who are ruining the internet with all their spam.

Law enforcement authorities arrested Jeremy Jaynes (a.k.a., "Jeremy James" and "Gaven Stubberfield"), regarded as the eighth-worst spam distributor in the world in Raleigh, North Carolina, and charged him with four felony counts of using fraudulent means to transmit unsolicited bulk e-mail. He may be prosecuted in Virginia if any part of the illegal transactions took place in any locality in the Commonwealth. Thousands of complaints were used by the Commonwealth of Virginia to help investigate and indict Jaynes.

If convicted, Jaynes could face up to 20 years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

About time!
I never did like spam. It always tasted like...well "spam".

Seriously though, that is good news to all

Three days ago, my hotmail spam came to an abrupt hault. Is there any connection or did hotmail close the spam down? Either way, it is great.

Maybe some of the other spammers got wind of what happened to Jeremy Jaynes and decided to stop.

I read in the news today that this guy was convicted and sentenced to nine years in prison for bombarding Internet users with millions of his junk e-mails. At the time of his arrest he was considered among the top 10 spammers in the world. Chalk one up for the consumers!

Unfortunately, he's still free under $1 million bond pending appeal and told the judge that regardless of how his appeal turns out, "I can guarantee the court I will not be involved in the e-mail marketing business again."

Click here for the full story.

Thats good news that this guy is put out of business.
And Jim thats a good question, if this guy was Number 8, it kind of seems that someone knows who one thru seven are. Can't we give them a rude awakening as well??
