We were in the boonies of Wyoming with another couple several years ago when the gentleman we were traveling with had a serious medical issue that required surgery followed by several weeks of rehab. Their medical insurance would pay for the treatment/rehab but he would have had to recover a thousand miles from home. Their medical evacuation insurance (do not know from who) paid for his evac to their home area where his family could conveniently visit during his recuperation and rehab. Without it they would have had to return to Wyoming while he recovered. Worth it? Depends on your needs.

Just be sure to read the fine print real carefully. Several years ago we considered GS but after reading the fine print we realized the thing I was most likely to need it for would not be covered. They don't cover prexisting problems and I had heart problems.

Glad I read this thread. I had let our FMCA membership expire this past March...forgot about this benefit(EMEP) and the one that helps return your coach to home base in an emergency. With the addition of 10 to ?? % off participating CGs, we should be able to get our money's worth. I just re-upped. Not a bad deal for 40 bucks a year. Bob

We'd like to know if anyone on Medicare has any experience of buying medical insurance for Canada. We're only 75 miles or so from the border and enjoy visiting BC and Alberta, but we haven't done it sincewe got bck into the RV lifestyle 2 years ago.

Since it's ergonomically impractical for DW to drive our RV, I'd like to find out more about short-term coverage to handle hospital bills if I have a medical problem up there, or if DW has some kind of emergency that prevents me getting her back across the border.
